Ed and Olivia met as students at Howard University during their senior year in 2010. Both were enrolled in Shakespearean Literature at the time. Olivia, an avid reader, was excited about the course and approached the coursework with ease. Ed on the other hand enrolled in the course not by choice, but only to satisfy his requirements to graduate on time. Ironically, their first encounter was not an immediate love connection. In fact it was Ed asking to copy Olivia’s notes on one of the assigned Shakespeare’s sonnets that he failed to read. Initially reluctant, Olivia agreed. This sparked a friendship between the two. After graduation, Olivia left D.C. to attend law school, while Ed stayed in the city. The two kept in contact and remained friends, often checking in to see how the other was doing with law school and career pursuits. Fast forward to 2017, Olivia had moved back to D.C.. The pair ran into each other at Howard Homecoming. Excited to see her, Ed asked Olivia out for drinks. (According to Ed he didn’t want to pass up on the chance to take her out on a date if the opportunity presented itself, but Olivia on the other hand didn’t think the offer for drinks was actually a date). After a few more casual outings it was apparent their friendship had blossomed into much more. After three years of dating, Ed surprised Olivia with an intimate proposal that left her speechless. The couple welcomed their first child, Edward III, in September 2023. They can’t wait to celebrate their love with you all.
